Common OBD2 Error Codes

The OBD-II codes are known as diagnostic trouble codes which are identified and stored by the on-board computer system required on every automobile. There is a large network of sensors in every car that can detect problems and relay this information to the computer. You will know when there is an OBD2 error code identified by your vehicle when the check engine light comes on.

These codes can be read by plugging in a simple device which will output the identification number of the code. Certain codes are specific to a single manufacturer but the majority of codes are standardized across all manufacturers making it easy to diagnose the problems which can be fixed by common repair procedures.
